Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 · Yumble ("we", "us"). This is a plain-English summary; a solicitor should review before public launch.

Who we are

Yumble is a UK-based social-dining application that matches people on shared food tastes and helps them find venues to share a meal. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, date of birth, gender, who you're looking for), your food and taste preferences, photos you upload, messages you send, venues you save or book, and—where you complete verification—a selfie and identity document used solely to confirm you are a real person aged 18+. We also collect basic technical data (device, app usage) to run and improve the service.

Why we use it (lawful bases)

To provide the matching and booking service (performance of a contract), to keep the community safe and verify age and identity (legitimate interests and legal obligation), and, where required, with your consent (which you can withdraw at any time).

Verification data

Your selfie and ID are used once to verify identity and age. They are handled securely, are never shown to other members, and are retained only as long as necessary for safety and legal purposes.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Limited data is shared with service providers who help us operate (for example, secure cloud hosting and identity-verification partners), under contract and only as needed. Other members see only your profile, not your contact details or ID.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your account in the app at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@yumble.app. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and safety obligations, then delete or anonymise it.
